OSCAR undergraduate, Ibukun Folarin, received the Best Poster Award at the Naval Academy Science and Engineering Conference (NASEC). Ibukun is advised by Dr. Mohammad A. Khan. At the conference, he heard from distinguished speakers such as Dr. Ray O. Johnson (Sr. Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of Lockheed Martin) and Matthew L. Klunder (Chief of the Naval Research and Navy’s Director Innovation, Technology Requirements, Test and Evaluation.)
In addition, Ibukun was able to discuss research robotics with fellow colleagues from institutions like Texas A&M, Cornell University, and other colleges from across the nation. His group’s topic was robotic cooperation, remote sensing and telepresence. Their goal was to develop a robot that could detect and save human life after a hurricane. Topics included the social, economic, and technological implications this new robot would have on society. At the end of the conference, Ibukun was awarded the best poster award out of all the students who presented their research.
